Utku Asan (TUR)

Utku Asan was born in Istanbul in 1999 and began playing the piano at the age of seven. He started his musical education at the State Conservatory of Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University in Istanbul. In 2018, he continued his studies at the Hochschule für Musik und Darstellende Kunst Frankfurt am Main, studying with Prof. Alexej Gorlatch, Vassilia Efstathiadou, and Dmitry Ablogin. He is currently pursuing his Master’s degree at the same institution with Prof. Dmitry Ablogin and is also studying chamber music with Prof. Angelika Merkle and Prof. Hansjacob Staemmler.

Utku Asan has participated in prestigious music festivals and competitions, including the Gümüslük International Classical Music Festival, Ayvalık International Music Academy, Antalya International Piano Festival, Akbank Sanat Piano Days, MainWeltmusik Festival and HfMDK Jazzfest. He has performed in cities such as Oxford, Frankfurt, Stuttgart, Bologna, Ankara, Antalya, Bodrum, and Istanbul.

He has received special recognition with his ensemble, the “Eibenschütz Quartet,” which won the Audience Prize at the online competition “Kammer?Musik!” by the Junge Deutsche Philharmonie. He also leads a jazz quartet in Frankfurt. His accolades include the 2nd prize at the International Piano Competition in Bursa, Turkey, and at the International Piano Competition “Musical Fireworks” in Baden-Württemberg, Germany. Additionally, he earned the 3rd prize at the “Dialog Competition” of HfMDK and was selected three times for the Deutschlandstipendium.

Utku Asan has attended masterclasses with renowned pianists such as İdil Biret, Hüseyin Sermet, Gülsin Onay, Lilya Zilberstein, Denis Kozukhin, Herbert Schuch, Muza Rubackyte, Hermann Kretzschmar, and Johan Schmidt. His solo CD with the Symphony Orchestra of HfMDK, conducted by Vassilis Christopoulos, was broadcast on “hr2-kultur” radio.
