Trio Hellas (GRC)

The „Τrio HELLAS“ was founded exclusively for the MainWeltmusik Festival. It consists of three musicians who have already worked together in the past: the musical duo „NOTIOS ANEMOS“ consisting of Marianna Zorba (vocals) and Emmanuel Manusselis (guitar) and the Bouzouki soloist Athanasios Karatzovalis.

The musical duo „NOTIOS ANEMOS“ was founded in 2002 in the city of Chania on the island of Crete. It consists of two up-and-coming artists with many years of experience in live performances and music production, Marianna Zorba (vocals) and Emmanuel Manusselis (guitar). Their musical repertoire includes works by the greatest Greek composers such as Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Chatzidakis, Stavros Xarchakos, Stavros Kougioumtzis, Manos Loizos, etc. Their activity in musical cultures of other peoples, with a focus on Latin America, gives their performances a special character.

In 1997, the duet appeared at the Eurovision Grand Prix in Dublin and represented Greece with the title „Chorepse“, a composition by Emmanuel Manusselis, which put it in twelfth place. In 2006 a complete CD with the title „San Minoiko Karawi“ was released.

Athanasios Karatzovalis (Bouzouki soloists) has lived in Bielefeld since the age of twelve. He comes from a musical family and has learned to make music autodidactically. He has already performed together with many other well-known Greek musicians. Currently he is doing a further education as a sound engineer.

All three artists live permanently in Germany, where they successfully perform numerous concerts and inspire the audience…
