Singer, composer, as well as founder and artistic director of the International MainWeltmusik Festival, Hasan Yükselir is regarded as one of the most versatile artists of his country. With his classically trained and exceptionally expressive voice, he combines traditional Anatolian folk songs with Western classical music, jazz, and contemporary sound worlds. Sometimes poetic and romantic, sometimes powerful and epic, he interprets the musical traditions of Anatolia through his distinctive artistic language, creating impressive musical bridges between East and West.

MainWeltmusik Festival 2024 – Music as a Bridge Between Cultures
With 68 artists from 25 nations, the MainWeltmusik Festival 2024 became a powerful symbol of cultural dialogue, diversity, and peaceful togetherness. A special highlight was the founding of the MainWeltmusik Festival Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Peter Zelienka together with conductor Fırat Yükselir. Alongside Daria Tymoshenko and Hasan Yükselir, an extraordinary concert project emerged at Capitol Offenbach, bringing together Anatolian and European musical traditions.
In grateful memory of Peter Zelienka, whose artistic spirit and human warmth will never be forgotten.

LETTER FROM ISTANBUL & DILEK TÜRKAN (GRC & TUR)

„Letter from Istanbul Project“ is a sophisticated fusion of traditional Turkish and Greek folk music such as Zeybek and Sirtos. Derya Türkan and Socrates Sinopoulos, two friends who play the same instrument; have made it their goal to discover the music of these countries by using the great cultural treasure that has lived in Istanbul for centuries. This group, which initially performed as an instrumental group, has revealed the richness of its large song repertoire with soloist Dilek Türkan. The songs and instrumental pieces that Dilek Türkan will perform are compiled from Istanbul’s rich and multicultural repertoire from the 18th, 19th and 20th century…

ZAITSA is a Ukrainian-German folk-jazz-Balkan-pop band,
which made its UK debut in 2012 at the Mela Festival, to coincide with the opening of the London Olympics.

The band’s creative activity has won many awards and prizes; their album was nominated for the „Edmonton Music Prize 2018“.
The group’s programme consists of Ukrainian folk songs in modern arrangements and their own compositions. The focus is on human feelings, especially from the time of the great wave of European immigration to North America at the end of the 19th century to the beginning of the 20th century….

Landesjugendjazzorchester Hessen Junior-Band (DEU)

The Junior Band of the Landesjugendjazzorchester (LJJO) Hessen, founded in 2007, unites the most talented young musicians aged 12 to 20. Dr. Holger Fröhlich, a former long-time member of the LJJO Hessen, has been recruited as the band leader. The saxophonist and music teacher, who has won prizes at national and state level as well as internationally, is firmly connected to the band and the Hessian jazz scene.He has written numerous arrangements for the junior band. As the state’s musical figurehead, the band regularly performs at official festivities, such as the summer festival of the Hessian State Representation in Berlin or on the occasion of „70 Years of the Proclamation of the State of Hesse“ in the Goethe University Casino in Frankfurt…

Jannis Karis and Kostas Tsapakidis have been playing music together for more than forty years. They have performed on several performing stages and festivals in Germany, France, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey. At the concert at the Mainweltmusikfestival they will play Rembetiko and songs of famous composers like Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Stavros Xarhakos and others. They will be accompanied by two virtuosos, Dimitris Petridis on accordion and Ahmed Hattach on percussion.
