MainWeltmusik Festival 2023 – Songs without borders connect nations – a musical festival of solidarity and worldwide understanding.
The international „MainWeltmusik” Festival is bringing together numerous dance and music groups from different countries of the world for 8 years. It is intended to promote the coexistence of people in the Rhine-Main area by offering the diversity of their own culture a platform that is independent of language, religion and nationality. Music is the only common language in the world because, unlike spoken language, the world of music knows no barriers of understanding; anyone who listens to a melody with an open heart understands what is being transmitted and is immersed in the world of the singer… Be there! Also this year it will be amazing and a cultural highlight in Offenbach.

SYRIAB (SYR)
Exchange and communication are key to making music. Since their first encounter with ensemble reflektor in 2017, SYRIAB has been dedicated to sharing music with other musicians. Be it a symphony orchestra, a classical string trio or a big band, professional or amateur ensemble likewise, special musical moments, marvelous experiments and – most importantly – unforgettable encounters are created…
OMIKRON (GRC)
Jannis Karis and Kostas Tsapakidis have been playing music together for more than forty years. They have performed on several performing stages and festivals in Germany, France, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey. At the concert at the Mainweltmusikfestival they will play Rembetiko and songs of famous composers like Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Stavros Xarhakos and others. They will be accompanied by two virtuosos, Dimitris Petridis on accordion and Ahmed Hattach on percussion.
Jannis Karis (GRC)
In 1990 Jannis Karis toured Europe with the old master of rembetiko, Michális Jenitsaris, and in the same year released his first live album „Saltadóros“, which was awarded the German Record Critics‘ Prize. The second album „Salto Orientale“ (Tanit Records) reached the top ten of the European world music charts in 1994. This year Jannis Karis will accompany our festival orchestra with his Greek folk songs and delight the audience with the most beautiful rebetiko songs.
