Landesjugendjazzorchester Hessen Junior-Band (DEU)

The Junior Band of the Landesjugendjazzorchester (LJJO) Hessen, founded in 2007, unites the most talented young musicians aged 12 to 20. Dr. Holger Fröhlich, a former long-time member of the LJJO Hessen, has been recruited as the band leader. The saxophonist and music teacher, who has won prizes at national and state level as well as internationally, is firmly connected to the band and the Hessian jazz scene.He has written numerous arrangements for the junior band. OMIKRON (GRC)

Jannis Karis and Kostas Tsapakidis have been playing music together for more than forty years. They have performed on several performing stages and festivals in Germany, France, Hungary, Czech Republic, Greece, Austria, Switzerland and Turkey. At the concert at the Mainweltmusikfestival they will play Rembetiko and songs of famous composers like Mikis Theodorakis, Manos Hatzidakis, Stavros Xarhakos and others. They will be accompanied by two virtuosos, Dimitris Petridis on accordion and Ahmed Hattach on percussion.

Jannis Karis (GRC)

In 1990 Jannis Karis toured Europe with the old master of rembetiko, Michális Jenitsaris, and in the same year released his first live album „Saltadóros“, which was awarded the German Record Critics‘ Prize. The second album „Salto Orientale“ (Tanit Records) reached the top ten of the European world music charts in 1994.
